The Society of Biological Psychiatry was founded in 1945 to emphasize the medical and scientific study and treatment of mental disorders. Its continuing purpose is to foster scientific research and education and to raise the level of knowledge and comprehension in the field of psychiatry.
Major programmes in Behavioural Pharmacology and Human Nutrition form the mainstay of current departmental research in Biological Psychology. This work involves close collaboration with other departments at Leeds and, worldwide, with many research teams based in universities, institutes and industry.
