The Lymphoedema Association of Australia was founded in 1982 to encourage research into lymphoedema (lymphedema) and its treatment, and to spread information about these among doctors, therapists and patients. At present it has some 2, 000 members (from all of these groups), 75 percent of which live in Australia and the rest in many countries of the world. It was the first such association in the world, and has so far been in contact with about 10, 000 people.
