The Vancouver Island Symphony is based is Nanaimo, British Columbia on Vancouver Island and serves the Central Vancouver Island region.

The Nanaimo Clippers play in the British Columbia Hockey League (B.C.H.L.), a division of the Canadian Junior "A" Hockey League.
