ASTER (Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer) is a high resolution imaging instrument that is flying on the Terra satellite. ASTER will obtain detailed maps of land surface temperature, emissivity, reflectance and elevation of the Earth.

The ASTER spectral library includes data from three other spectral libraries: the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) Spectral Library the Jet Propulsion Laboratory(JPL) Spectral Library, and the United States Geological Survey (USGS - Reston) Spectral Library.
