The Illinois State Water Survey web site offers many services to the public, but its primary goal is to disseminate a wide variety of water and water-use information in an array of useable formats. Almost every area of Illinois has been served by the Survey during its 100-year-plus tenure.

Created in 1964, the Illinois Water Resources Center (IWRC) receives annual funding from the U.S. Geological Survey and the State of Illinois, as part of a nationwide network of university-based water centers.
