Mt Egmont or Mt Taranki as it is also known is a nearly perfect volcanic cone that rises out of the surrounding farmland. High on the upper slopes of this mountain lies the Manganui Ski Area. This area is operated by the Manganui Ski Club and offers a thrilling experience for skiers and snowboarders with a wide variety of terrain including some of the steepest in the country.
