Text-only version By Chris Fouquet cfouquet@pilotsguide.com { Wet Layup 'Glass Skins | Bagging Wood Veneer Skins | Bagging Supplies and Materials } The technique of vacuum bagging is used to construct foam core wings, either with a wet layup of fiberglass cloth and resin or to apply a wood veneer skin. Both practices use the same principal: enclose the wing in an airtight bag , then remove the ...

What do Thermals Look Like by Wayne Angevine This is an article that I posted to this list and rec.models.rc last June. It seems appropriate to post it again, since there are a lot of new people on the list and the topic seems to have come up again. Some people have characterized the exchange that included this article as a flamewar, but the closest thing to a flame was a question about my ...

OK. You've just finished 'bagging a new set of wings. You've trimmed the edges, applied the leading edge, and now you're ready to hinge the surfaces. Nothing says you have to do anything special when hinging a 'bagged wing. Conventional hinges or even plain old tape will work. However, a vacuum bagged wing is an ideal candidate for a tubular knuckle hinge. The thin, hard skin surface makes it ...

How to Cast Lead Nose Weight Mike Shellim June 2000 Here's a simple method of casting lead to fit inside the nose of your model. It could also be used to for casting shaped ballast slabs to fit in the fuselage. The method is suited for glass fibre fuselages where access to the nose is restricted. I don't pretend it's the only way, but it works for me - I don't pour molten lead directly into the ...

Performance Analysis of a Family of R/C Thermal Sailplanes by Blaine Beron-Rawdon Email: evdesign@cox.net Web: http://members.cox.net/evdesign Concept A theoretical study was made to evaluate the effect of minimum sink rate, span, and aspect ratio on the performance of a family of conventional radio controlled thermal sailplanes. The idea is to develop data which permits the designer to choose a ...
