Because the Indiana dunes has so many diverse habitats, the opportunity to view a great variety of birds' nesting here are numerous! During the spring and fall migration, the enormous size of Lake Michigan has a funneling effect on the path the birds must take. Which, again gives the birder a rare opportunity to view many species not normally seen together.
