The Green River Killer, reportedly the nation's worst unsolved serial killer spree was responsible for 49 deaths of women in Portland and Seattle between 1982 and 1984. No one knows why the killings stopped. After a 19 year investigation Gary Leon Ridgway from a rural area outside of Seattle was arrested in 5 of the murders based on DNA findings.
