THE KALISPEL INDIANS The Kalispel Indians occupied the area around Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho, at the time of the the first European intrusions into this interior region of the Salish-speaking peoples. They also occupied a vast drainage area upsteam in the state of Montana, and another drainage area downstream in the state of Idaho.
