The North-South Institute (NSI) is the only independent research institute in Canada focused on international development. The Institute conducts research on Canada's relations with developing countries and on a wide range of foreign policy issues. Established in 1976, NSI is a non-profit and non-partisan organization.

The Ottawa Carleton Research Institute (OCRI) is a not-for-profit research co-operative with the mission of accelerating the growth of a world class technology infrastructure within the Ottawa-Carleton Region and environs. OCRI focuses on microelectronics, communications and computer technologies, and bioscience. Other areas of technology of interest to the region are added as appropriate.

The Canadian Council on Social Development. CCSD is a national, independent non-profit organization specializing in issues of economic and social security. The site has a wealth of social statistics and social policy documents, and hundreds of links to other sites.

The Vanier Institute of the Family (VIF). The VIF is a national non-profit organization and a recognized expert on family issues and family policy.

Works collaboratively with universities, think tanks, government and other organizations by building networks of researchers and policy makers focused on the social dimensions of family, work and health.
